Clive Norman

Novelist & Poet

Welcome to my literary home.

Clive Norman

Clive Norman is a novelist and published poet whose literary roots run deep into the landscape of the English countryside. Born in 1950, Clive spent his formative years roaming the scenic vistas of the Cuckmere Valley alongside his brothers and friends, developing a lifelong connection to the visual textures and quiet rhythms of the natural world.

Before turning his full attention to literature, Clive spent several decades managing the complex, structural realities of numbers, working diligently as a bookkeeper within his family’s electrical firm. This unique background—balancing the precision of structural logic with a deep, contemplative interior world—distinctly informs the cadence and structural balance of his writing.

Rather than practicing standard meditation, Clive has developed his own style of listening to the world through the silence of his thoughts—a practice of balancing the observer and the observed to reveal a pure, beautiful vision of reality. A keen gardener, he channels these deep observations directly into his verse. He is the author of five celebrated poetry collections, including The Freedom of Free Verse, Weep Not, and Life, Ever-Changing, exploring human vulnerability, memory, and the constant movement of time.

Now residing in East Sussex, Clive continues to balance his creative focus between his active greenhouse and garden, his art, and his laptop. His highly anticipated debut novel, The Shepherds, is scheduled for publication in October 2026 by Local Legend Publishers, marking an expansive new milestone in a creative life defined by reflection and deep storytelling.
